Architecture and Structures

Houses and skyscrapers of the 20th and 21st centuries use super strong materials and advanced engineering to keep them standing sturdy and tall, but how did medieval architects build such impressive structures, such as Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle, that have stood for centuries?
This course will cover everything from building techniques to architectural features to interior design.  Building in pairs, the children will use the Mini-Engineers LEGO architecture kit to design and construct their brief each week.  We'll go through the basics of planning and building your own house, from designing the layout, to putting the finishing touches on the furnishings.  We'll also take inspiration from the architecture of some of the great castles and cathedrals around Britain, making our own miniature copies of their key architectural features. By the end of this class, your child will be eager to show off their new architectural building skills.
